We are moving into a new year and to my understanding a new era. 2016 or 2+0+1+6=9 which is an ending due to it being the last full digit of the cycle.
2017 or 2+0+1+7 makes 10 which added makes 1, this represents the start of a new era, but I also believe there to be another meaning to 10. Firstly I would just like to say that numbers as a language are very similar to words, meaning if you know how to interpret them, not just in a black and white way, they contain multiple meanings and depending on the eye that views, they can be interpreted in many ways.
What I mean by this is there is an intuitive aspect to numbers. So 1 can mean self, it could also mean single or 1 thing in any form. There are many ways that 1 can be interpreted and unless you have the intuitive aspect it can be hard to interpret dates. On the other hand 2 different interpretations can both be accurate, it just depends on those listening. What I am basically saying is there is no concrete blueprint that says 1 means X 2 means Y and 3 means Z as numbers are infinite and so are interpretations of them.

If you are reading this, it is my understanding that you are doing so for a reason, so there is a good chance that my interpretation will help you, but I do not claim any absolute truth on the matter.
My understanding of the 10 which this year represents is 1 and 0 meaning 1 unifying with 0. In this case 1 is the self, meaning you, me or anyone from their own perspective unifying with 0, which in this case means nothing. A bit like what Buddhism teaches about emptiness, the last year (specifically the last 3 months) have been hectic energetically, this year is about emptying that cup and uniting with the stillness. This does not necessarily mean all will be still and peaceful, but we need to find the stillness in the caos.

This is the first date of the month and is very powerful. Think of what I said about entering into the stillness well this day is 01 01 10, so a real day for silence and entering into this space of stillness.
An analogy for zero can also be the difference between viewing something in standard definition and high definition, so the fact we have 1 accompanied by a 0, 3 times is really highlighting the 1 on the different levels.
The 3 1’s also to my understanding represent mind, body and soul. But due to them being single 1’s it is about 3 becoming 1. Meaning mind, body and soul merging into one entity. To remove the separation of the 3 and understand that they all work in harmony as 1 unit.

So often we look to compartmentalise the 3 areas as if they do not work as a unit, and while this can work temporarily it is only a quick fix. Lets use the example of a lower back problem, it could very well be caused by physical trauma or a physical problem (body), however to heal you would need to take into account how you view the problem (your mind) and do you have a spiritual imbalance relating to this body part (spirit). Lower back is related to the root chakra, which in a nutshell has to do with security and staying grounded.
Should you be ungrounded it will be harder to heal. Also should you not believe you can heal, the same can ring true. The placebo effect is a very real phenomena and I think it has to do with the belief you will heal, that aids the process. All of these things alone will not work, but when you find the balance between them all, they do or at least this is my understanding of it.
Also if you add 1+1+2+1+7 you get 12, again this is about masculine/feminine, dark/light and the dual nature becoming 1 or the split person becoming whole. The last time we had a date similar to this was 2008, so it has been a long 8 year cycle, in which we are now kicking off a new centred approach to becoming 1.
111 as a whole number in this case represents the ability to look and reflect on your mind, body and soul. This is done through silent observation (meditation) today is a great day (if possible) to sit with yourself, spend time in nature, meditate and journal about yourself. We often think of ourselves as separate from the whole, but we are not. We are equally as important to the growth of the planet progression of humanity individually as we are collectively, so try to remember that. When we heal ourselves, we are in the best position to help heal the world. Being selfish, can often be the least selfish thing a person can do. If you try to tip from an empty cup eventually there will be nothing to pour, so while the day (and year) is about emptying, it is only in order to detoxify and replace with something more suitable for your purpose.

There is a subtle difference between the 1st and the 10th, being that the 1st is 0-1 and the 10th being 1-0. To my understanding on the 1st it is about letting the nothingness in, nature is a great place for this, and on the 10th it is about seeking the nothingness, so taking time out to meditate, you can do both on both days, but that is the subtle difference I see between the 2.
Much love to you all, and make sure you take out the time to be still and peaceful on the 1st and the 10th of this month specifically, but January (and even this year) as a whole is about self care and love!

A primary focus of Amrit Yoga is to build heat by charging the battery of the body, which is based in the lower three centers. As this energy is aroused and consciously directed from the lower chakras to the upper ones, our biological prana awakens to its evolutionary potential.

Awakened prana, called Kundalini, carries out healing and cleansing at an accelerated level – resulting in the purification of the nerve channels in the body as well as cleansing kriyas – all of which prepare the body for accelerated spiritual development.

Chakra One: Roots, Alignment, Earth

Muladhara is the body in physical space and time, developing groundedness, stability and foundation. In Amrit Yoga, the attention is alignment in all poses, building awareness and strength in the legs – especially all standing poses. Anything that stabilizes and roots the foundation reinforces muladhara.

Chakra Two: Sensation, Flow, Water

In Swadisthana we become aware of the senses, sensation (pleasure/pain) and emotions that accompany each pose. We allow our awareness of ecstatic energy to build in the second half of the pose. Suggested poses include pigeon, bridge and the spinal twist.

Chakra Three: Power, Fire

In Manipura, our fire (spiritual heat) is stimulated. We “jump-start” the battery of the body, the physical storehouse of energy, through strong standing poses like The Warrior. The willful aspect of the practice is also associated with chakra three. In the first half of the Amrit Yoga Level I sequence, we are building the battery in the belly and then consciously directing that energy upward. This is an essential part of Level I as this conscious generation and directing of energy is necessary for prana to awaken and move upward to higher centers.

Chakra Four: Awakening to the Spiritual Path

In Anahata, we are asked to open the heart. This requires spiritual commitment to let the ego drop away. In Amrit Yoga the heart energy is engaged with the use of the arms, with mudras, giving and receiving movements. Some heart opening poses can be: camel, yoga mudra, cobra, half locust (opens arms and heart meridians). Breath and the fourth chakra are closely connected (lungs).

Chakra Five: Communication (internal/external) – the power of sound vibration

Visuddha is more apparent in Level II Amrit Yoga, but also in Level I – we turn into the vibration of prana that sources the movement. Use sound vibration when in the pose and the power of your word (opening intention and Om) to create the vibrational field you intend. Become aware of your own inner dialogue and if it serves you or not. In Amrit Yoga the throat chakra may be stimulated through chanting, bridge, camel and shoulder stand postures.

Chakra Six: the Third Eye

Meditation, witness, meditative awareness Pratyahara; deep absorption without choosing for or against what is present in Ajna chakra. In the second half of the pose and Third Eye integration-consciously allow energies to grow with meditative attention and draw freed energies upward toward the Third Eye for integration. All forward bending poses where the head is lower than the heart brings attention and energy to the third eye (child, yoga mudra, wide-angle forward bend).

Chakra Seven: Silence

In the Sahasrar, the elixir of Amrita comes through silencing the fluctuations of the mind. This is the entry into the bliss body, which can happen in the second half of the pose, in Third Eye Meditation integration, or in any pose. All these practices of Amrit Yoga are intended to reach the final point of stilling the modifications of the mind, which is always associated with the seventh chakra.

The last lunar cycle, which began on November 30th’s New Moon in Sagittarius, created the energetic backdrop through which we recently experienced a powerful need for freedom, which in turn, has brought to the surface deep feelings of frustration and restriction. Although these feelings ultimately lead us back to desiring and creating essential change, we are walking the line between liberty and limitation — and creating transformation from this space is not an easy ride!

Thankfully, this month’s new lunar cycle, which commenced with Thursday’s New Moon in Capricorn, offers some support. We are being given the opportunity to revise how we respond to our fears, darkness and suffering — the things that both feed and are fed by our sense of frustration and limitation — learnings that enable us to rewrite our future and literally become the change.

Uranus goes Direct

Bringing fire to our hearts

Energetically speaking, Uranus’s change in direction from a retrograde to a direct motion is in synchronicity with this month’s New Moon in Capricorn, and points to a very important shift in our human evolution. Uranus plays an important role in helping us see things from different perspectives, which helps us to identify and break free from our own personal limitations. Over the last 5 months, the cycle of Uranus retrograde has been an intense one, raising questions and helping us uproot the emotional and psychological patterns that are keeping us feeling ‘stuck’ and preventing us from experiencing life in true liberation.

Now, as Uranus moves direct, we will begin to find both the support and the opportunities we need to create more innovative solutions to our lives.

The energy of Saturn (associated with restriction and limitation) also works in connection with Uranus (liberation), and the current cycle of Saturn and Uranus is currently forming a very powerful Trine alignment which will continue to support our quest for liberation throughout 2017. This is a time in which we will find many creative solutions, and begin to create more meaningful experiences in our personal and collective lives.

Mercury Retrograde Conjunct the New Moon in Capricorn

Nourishing an awakening collective

Whenever the Sun or any planet travels through the frequency of Capricorn (self-determination), a heavy energy begins to descend on our hearts and psyches. This heaviness can pull us into a very slow and contemplative emotional process. As difficult as this process can be, we begin to awaken a very deep and profound part of our emotional nature when we tune into its purpose, and the purpose of the Capricorn archetype.

The polarity of Capricorn is Cancer (the inner emotional world). We connect to the external world (Capricorn) through our inner emotional worlds (Cancer). Through this polarity, the Capricorn frequency helps us connect with and ground our emotional nature and, through this process, we establish an integrated soul connection, our emotions acting as both the bridge between the inner and outer worlds and our guide to navigating them.

So, as we enter this month’s new lunar cycle, marked by the New Moon in Capricorn, we begin to have questions and themes come up for us relating to our emotional reality. With Mercury now halfway through its retrograde motion, we are being asked to look at old emotional patterns and the psychological attachments we have to them, and to truly take stock of our emotional being.

This may seem to us like a very heavy transit, filled with feelings of futility and hopelessness. It can be easy to fall into a state of feeling this struggle will never end. But remember, this feeling is itself a mechanic of the Capricorn frequency. For now, it’s about sitting tight, feeling what you feel, releasing old crystallised patterns as they arise, and simply remaining still. Capricorn brings us tremendous insight and clarity when we work with this frequency, we just have to be still for a while to truly benefit from its lessons.

Venus in Aquarius and Mars in Pisces

Emotional transparency

Venus is moving through the end of its transit through Aquarius, a transit that has been supporting the integration of themes and insights brought on by Uranus’s recent ‘change in direction’ vibe. Taking months and, in some cases, years to transit the signs of the zodiac, the outer planets play a big role in shifting and reflecting our collective experience of reality — thus, the way we connect with the energy of transpersonal outer planets is through the personal inner planets of Venus and Mars.

Venus’s movement through Aquarius has promoted the need for emotional awareness and transparency, which can be a tough experience but is absolutely essential, and ultimately makes us feel lighter. With Mars just entering Pisces and making a connection with both Neptune and the South Node of the Moon (both in Pisces), we are being invited to look at old outdated emotional realities and not only dissolve the patterns and limitations associated with them, but to also let go of what they once provided for us. This transit synchronises perfectly with the current Mercury Retrograde in Capricorn, the combined effect of which will take us back to our experiences over the last three months and beyond, and review what they mean(t) for us.

By the time Mercury goes Direct on January 26th, Mars will be at the final degree of Pisces. This will signal a new phase of emotional growth throughout 2017, a year that is set to bring enormous personal growth and collective transition that may be scary and exciting at the same time, but will bring us to a much lighter way of being.

The Moon’s Message: Rewriting the Future

As we begin to realise the truth of our reality — that we are more than our physical perception — we begin to experience life through the duality of ego and soul. We see how the ego leads our human experience and our souls deepen our connection to the Source, and for many, we focus our energy on one layer or another. However, each layer — Ego, Soul and Source — are all vitally important for our evolution and every aspect is just as realand valid a part of our human experience as the other. It is only through our human experience, and our human limitations and mortality, that we can experience the depths of our being, and ultimately, feel how deeply we love.

The paradoxical nature of our being is that all suffering we experience is rooted in the core wound of our perceived separation, and yet, no matter how deeply we know that this separation is an illusion, our ego cannot experience itself in any other way. In physical form, we will always know the limitation and pain of life. Our soul evolves through the human experience and our growing awareness IS our experience. That is what we came here for.

So, as we open ourselves more to the true love of our being, it becomes increasingly painful to see the suffering in this world, and in ourselves. Our face pressed up against the window of duality, the need for shadow work becomes more intense as our hearts expand and in parallel, our pain is felt deeper, just as is our love. With our sensitivity increasing, it can become unbearable to witness the state of the world as well as the darkness we must process in and around ourselves. And that sensitivity cannot be healed, or transcended. It is our nature. It is our asset. And it is our motivation — to bring the polarity to the light, to give meaning to the pain; not to remove it but to honour it as our compass.

Take the pain, the suffering, the loss and fear, take the guilt and shame the ignorance, and bring it to light. Honour the presence of the shadow. Give it a voice so that it can be seen in the light. Integrate it into your life, share it, and show it. Give thanks that it feeds your human soul with awareness of its own desires, and reveals the polarity of this reality to you. To you — the timeless, forgiving, courageous, understanding, aware, all-loving, and self-luminous being that you are.

As 2017 begins, we are being given the opportunity to learn new ways to respond to our darkness and pain, thereby rewriting our script for the future. Are you ready to be the change in 2017?

Well, here we are, about to say good-bye to 2016.
Yay! LOL

To tell you the truth, I’m not big on New Year’s. The Solstice is the big holiday for me, especially this year. Still, this changing of the calendar year is symbolic and is important to a lot of people. That means a lot of energy is flowing and that affects all of us. All holidays present opportunities for us to make the most of all the energies flowing around us.

Remember, opportunities are Open Portals to Unity.
I trust you see where I am going with that.

Which brings me to what I really want to say today. If you have been keeping up with the latest spiritual posts and/or if you have been listening to your Heart and your own guidance, then you know everything you need to know about what is going on right now. You really don’t need me to tell you what is happening or what you should be doing or what you should do or will do in 2017.

Nope. You don’t need me or anybody else to tell you anything. Not really. You came with your own guidance and information system already installed.
In your Heart.

So what I will do is share what I feel about YOU.

China To Ban Domestic Ivory Trade By End Of 2017

The monumental initiative is being hailed as “historic” and a “game-changer”, as 70% of the world’s trade presently ends up in the Asian country.

On Friday, China announced that it will close down its domestic ivory trade by the end of 2017 in an effort to tackle the elephant poaching crisis. The monumental initiative is being hailed as “historic” and a “game-changer”, as 70% of the world’s trade presently ends up in the Asian country.

BBC reports that the General Office of the State Council of China declared that China will “cease part of ivory processing and sales by 31 March 2017 and cease all ivory processing and sales by 31 December 2017”. Considering the African elephant is estimated to become extinct within the next decade, this is news to celebrate. Lo She Ping, CEO of WWF-China, agrees.

“WWF applauds China’s decision to ban its domestic ivory trade so swiftly, underlining the government’s determination and strong leadership to reduce demand for ivory and help save Africa’s elephants,” commented Ping.

The move follows a resolution at the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Florida (CITES) held in South Africa. During the October event, delegates adopted a resolution calling for all countries with a legal domestic market for ivory to take measures which prevent illegal ivory from being sold and traded.

Because China is home to the largest ivory trade in the world, activists are hopeful that this new ban will encourage other countries to adopt similar initiatives. Says Lo Sze Ping:

“Now that three of the world’s largest domestic ivory markets – China, Hong Kong SAR and the US – are being phased out, we hope that other countries will follow suit. China and the US have shown how quickly markets can be addressed and the sooner the better for Africa’s elephants.”

China was praised for its “great leadership” in the matter by Elly Pepper, deputy director of wildlife trade for the National Resources Defense Council.

“Setting such an aggressive timeline to close – once and for all – the largest domestic ivory market in the world is globally significant,” commented Pepper. “It’s a game changer and could be the pivotal turning point that brings elephants back from the brink of extinction.”

Approximately 20,000 elephants are killed illegally each year in Africa, and much of the ivory that is obtained is shipped to Asia – particularly China. The move will help to protect elephants, but environmental advocates are adamant that the ban isn’t enough. After all, if there’s enough demand for the product, poachers will persist and continue to hunt the majestic beasts.

On this, WWF says that the Chinese government must “continue their efforts to reduce demand for ivory, raise public awareness and work with other governments, conservation organizations, the private sector and local communities to end the illegal ivory trade – and give Africa’s elephants a future free from poaching.”
